Batch automation product. Consists of:

• Controller - managing task (z/OS based)
• Tracker Agent - Client on system being managed by the controller. Tracker agents are available for z/OS, z/OS UNIX Systems Services (USS), IBM System i (AS/400) and many other platforms including Microsoft Windows and UNIX. 

One ZWS Controller can control workloads running on the same z/OS system, or one or more other systems running a ZWS Tracker-Agent.

First released by IBM as OPC (Operations Planning and Control) in the 1970s. Name changed to OPC/A (Operations Planning and Control/Advanced) in 1987. Renamed to OPC/ESA in 1991, then to TME10 OPC in 1997. Renamed again to Tivoli Workload Scheduler in 2001, IBM Workload Scheduler in 2015, and finally IBM Z Workload Scheduler in 2019
