Waterloo, Ontario, Canada based software development company. Formed in 1981 by Fred Crigger, Ian McPhee, and Jack Schueler at the University of Waterloo. Known for producing language compilers and interpreters.
Acquired by Powersoft in 1994, which in turn merged with Sybase in 1995. In 2003, the Watson C/C++ and Fortran compilers were released as an open source project called Open Watcom.
